Nadia and Ilya Senchuk started farming grapes for their winery, Leaning Post, with the dream of producing world class, terroir-driven wines from vineyard sites across Niagara. At Leaning Post, winemaker Ilya employs minimal intervention to their small batch bottlings, allowing the vintage to show itself in the glass.
Winona is a blend of Merlot (83%) and Syrah (17%). Pronounced plum, strawberry, white pepper, lavendar and liqourice notes on the nose. Blueberries, dirt, cured meat, raspberry and mocha on the palate. Rich tannin. Drinkable now, but has potential to age. Enjoy with grilled meat, cured meat, and hard cheeses. Niagara Peninsula, Ontario, 2018.
