Nadia and Ilya Senchuk started farming grapes for their winery, Leaning Post, with the dream of producing world class, terroir-driven wines from vineyard sites across Niagara. At Leaning Post, winemaker Ilya employs minimal intervention to their small batch bottlings, allowing the vintage to show itself in the glass.

Here's a fun, cheerful, wine-like experience! Piquette, while not quite wine, is a by-product of wine making and a much loved drink of farm workers and vine growers in France. Leftover grape skins from wine pressing are soaked with water, and the mixture is left to ferment on the skins. Before fermentation is complete the wine is bottled, keeping it spritzy and sparkly.

This piquette is pale pink with bright, tart, crunchy red fruit flavours and funky, bread-like aromas. A juicy and fruity palate and snappy acidity. A super refreshing wine-meets cider-meets seltzer quaffer. Perfect for picnics. Niagara, 2020.
