A showcase for producer Les Equilibristes, makers of natural wine in the Languedoc. Les Equilibristes are Francois de Monval and Florent Girou, who aim to "shake up winemakers willing to craft different wines". Their set of golden rules are: indigenous grape varieties, organic winemaking, indigenous yeast and minimal sulphur.

 

"Hirsute Blanc" is made from Semillon, Sauvignon and Chenin. Two days of skin contact (call this wine a baby orange), results in rich texture and aromatics. Medium bodied with notes of yellow apple, pear and lemon zest with a subtle tartness and freshness. Slightly wild, as its name implies.

 

"Le Joufflu" is made from the red grapes Grolleau and Pineau d'Aunis. Fruit forward and deliciously funky with crunchy tannins and acidity.
